LEADERSHIP & ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

EMERGE Zambia is a youth-led organisation built around a growing network of young people who lead, organise, research, learn, and create opportunities for others.

Our structure combines national leadership, specialised portfolios, emerging leaders, and university-based chapters, allowing young people to take responsibility while gaining practical experience and developing their leadership capacity.

NATIONAL LEADERSHIP

The Director provides overall institutional leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of EMERGE Zambia's programmes, partnerships, and organisational development.

Working with the Director, the National Secretariat coordinates the organisation's day-to-day programmes and activities across its different portfolios.

NATIONAL SECRETARIAT

The National Secretariat brings together young leaders with diverse academic and professional interests. Its portfolios include:

Secretary-General — Overall coordination and implementation of the National Secretariat.

Deputy Secretaries-General — Support the Secretary-General and provide leadership across designated areas of the organisation.

Under-Secretaries-General — Lead specific portfolios and contribute to the implementation of EMERGE Zambia's programmes and activities.

NATIONAL SECRETARIAT APPRENTICESHIP

The National Secretariat Apprenticeship provides an entry point for emerging leaders who are ready to take on responsibility and gain practical organisational experience.

Apprentices work within specific portfolios such as research, partnerships, media and publicity, content creation, logistics, and other areas of the organisation. The programme provides an opportunity to learn through practice and demonstrate readiness for future leadership within the National Secretariat.

UNIVERSITY CHAPTERS

EMERGE Zambia also operates through university-based leadership chapters, creating a direct connection between the national organisation and young people on campuses.

Our chapters provide spaces for students to participate in:

Model United Nations and diplomacy
Leadership and professional development
Research and policy discussions
Debates and public speaking
Youth engagement and civic initiatives
EMERGE Zambia programmes and national events

Each chapter has its own student leadership team and works with the National Secretariat to coordinate activities, support members, and contribute to the wider EMERGE Zambia network.

A NETWORK THAT GROWS WITH ITS PEOPLE

EMERGE Zambia is still growing — and we believe that is part of our strength.

Our leadership structure is designed to create pathways rather than titles: from participating in a university chapter, to taking on responsibility as an emerging leader, to serving in the National Secretariat and eventually contributing to the organisation at a higher level.

As EMERGE Zambia grows, our structures will continue to evolve with it.

DIRECTOR OVERALL HEAD

BERNARD KALENGA MUNYOKA

DIRECTOR

Bernard Kalenga Munyoka is a youth leadership advocate, educator and researcher with extensive experience in Model United Nations, education and international relations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master's degree in International Relations and Political Science and is a PhD Candidate in Political Science, with research focusing on displacement, colonial borders and identity in the Great Lakes region of Africa. As Director of EMERGE Zambia, Bernard leads initiatives that equip young people with leadership skills, practical experience and opportunities to engage with diplomacy, global affairs and sustainable development.

HUMAIRAA TARIQUE KHAN

SG – OPERATIONS

Humairaa Tarique Khan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and is pursuing further studies in Political Science and International Relations. Her interests span global affairs, diplomacy, governance and international development, with a growing focus on understanding the institutions and processes that shape international cooperation.

DEPUTY SECRETARIES-GENERAL

MTHUNZI LUPAKA

DSG – ADMINISTRATION, ACADEMICS & CAPACITY BUILDING

A law student and youth leadership advocate with experience in Model United Nations, civic engagement, diplomacy and public speaking. As Deputy Secretary-General for Administration, Academics & Capacity Building at EMERGE Zambia, she supports the Secretary-General – Operations in coordinating administrative, academic and capacity-building activities across the organisation. She is passionate about law, policy, youth empowerment and public service, with a strong interest in developing young people's knowledge, leadership skills and civic participation.

EFTIHIOS GREGORAKIS

DSG – SIMULATION & TRAINING

Computer Engineering student and experienced MUN delegate responsible for simulations, delegate training, and maintaining high academic standards across EMERGE Zambia's programmes.

NTANDO HARA

USG – FINANCE & RECORDS

Economics and International Relations student with an interest in global affairs, economic development, diplomacy, and international policy. He supports EMERGE Zambia's financial administration and records management, contributing to organised and accountable programme operations.

MIRRIAM CHINYAMA

USG – EVENTS COORDINATION

Medical student with a passion for youth leadership, teamwork, and community engagement. She supports the planning and coordination of EMERGE Zambia's events, helping ensure programmes are well organised, engaging, and impactful.

MALUNJIKA MVULA

USG – PARTNERSHIPS & LOGISTICS

Malunjika is a Development Studies student who serves as Under-Secretary-General for Partnerships and Logistics. He supports EMERGE's partnership initiatives while coordinating the logistical aspects of the organisation's programmes and activities.

MARK MULAISHO

USG – DEBATE COORDINATOR

A fourth-year student pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mark has extensive experience in debate and public speaking. As the Debate Coordinator, he oversees and coordinates the debate events and activities of our organization.

GERALD LUNDOYI

ADVISOR

Gerald holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Development Studies and serves as an Advisor to the EMERGE team. He provides guidance and strategic insight to support the team in its programmes, initiatives and organisational development.

TANGU MANUNGA

APPRENTICE – MEDIA & PUBLICITY

Third-year Law student with an interest in MUN, diplomacy, international relations, and human rights. Through debate, public speaking, and advocacy, she has developed a passion for communication and youth engagement. She supports EMERGE Zambia's media and publicity efforts while gaining practical experience in the National Secretariat.

SITHEMBISO TSHABALALA

APPRENTICE – PARTNERSHIPS

Final-year LLB student and emerging leader with experience in legal advocacy, governance, public speaking, and youth leadership. An award-winning MUN delegate and mooter, he brings strong skills in diplomacy, policy engagement, and stakeholder relations. He supports EMERGE Zambia's partnership and stakeholder engagement efforts while gaining practical experience within the National Secretariat.

APHRODITE SAVOPOLOUS

APPRENTICE – CONTENT CREATION & PARTNERSHIP

A-Level student with an interest in creativity, communication, and youth engagement. She supports EMERGE Zambia's content creation efforts, contributing ideas and creative content while gaining practical experience in communications and leadership.

TAPIWANASHE BLESSING SHERENI

APPRENTICE – RESEARCH & CHAPTERS

Second-year Law student with an interest in research, international affairs, and policy. He supports EMERGE Zambia's research activities, contributing to research and analysis while gaining practical experience within the National Secretariat.

UNIVERSITY CHAPTERS

EMERGE Zambia's university chapters extend our work into campuses across Zambia, creating spaces where students can develop leadership, engage in diplomacy and public affairs, participate in research and debate, and contribute to the wider EMERGE network.

Each chapter is led by student leaders who coordinate activities on their respective campuses and work closely with the National Secretariat.
